Description: I discovered I was Jewish in 2014, after tracing my mothers family. I discovered my maternal Grandmother, Helena Lis (Rothenberg) was a Polish Jew, who had escaped Europe during WW2 and fought in the Polish Army. Since that discovery, my life has been turned upside down. We have visited Israel 3 times- the last time to record stories of victims of terror attacks (I am a photographer) . We hoped to return in 2020 to share Pesach with a friend in Nahariya, Hillel Kuttler. Hillel is a journalist and originally wrote about my search for the Times of Israel in 2015, he encouraged my connection with my heritage, and its been a wonderful journey. I now have many Jewish friends and have found family in Israel also. As we were unable to visit for passoever and Hillel was alone, we shared a seder via Zoom. The first seder I have ever made! This is not the best photo but it tells a story. Hillel in Nahariya breaking the Matzah, whilst my husband joins him in Scotland. It was an emotional night and really exemplifies our connection with Israel.
