Welcome to Jennifer Wren Photography

As a photographer I love to tell stories, but more than that, I wish to create a connection that allows me to capture the bonds between people, the memories they share, and the resilience they embody. Photography is a language of presence and emotion, a way to describe visually both what is seen and felt. I believe in the innate value of every human being, and that within every person is a whole world, filled with history, complexity, and untold narratives.

My work primarily explores identity, memory, and trauma through portraiture and documentary photography, with a deep respect for ethical storytelling. I have worked with communities who have experienced profound loss and trauma, focusing on their resilience—the strength that emerges from hardship, and the stories that should be heard and remembered. I have had the great privilege of meeting unforgettable individuals, and recording their difficult histories in a sensitive and considered way, always striving to create images that reflect dignity, truth, and humanity.

Connection also drives my role as a lecturer in Photography at Robert Gordon University, where I guide students in building meaningful projects that prioritize criticality and context. I encourage them to approach their work with intention, sensitivity, and a deep understanding of the power of visual storytelling.

Family, friendship, and shared history are at the heart of what I do. Whether capturing intimate moments, public personas, or the quiet in-between spaces, I want my photography to give voice to those I photograph. I am also passionate about helping families preserve their histories—recording the stories of loved ones, especially older generations, so that their legacies endure for family, friends, and descendants.

I hold a Master’s Degree in Communication Design/Photography and am an Associate of the Royal Photographic Society.

If you’d like me to tell your story—whether it’s a walk in the woods, a special occasion, or the preservation of a family legacy—please get in touch. I would love to hear from you!

A thing that you see in my pictures is that I was not afraid to fall in love with these people.
